Players Now Have the Option to Alter Their Name in Baldur’s Gate 3

I’ve got a funny story about me playing Baldur’s Gate 3. So, when I first started playing the game, I didn’t realize that the name “Tav” was the default name for the player character. I thought it was like other RPGs I’ve played where you get a random name generated for your character. When I saw “Tav,” I thought, “Not a bad name for a random generator!” But then, I realized that lots of other players had the same name, and I discovered the truth – I wasn’t being all creative with my character name; I was just going with the default, which was a bit embarrassing.

Luckily, there was a recent update for Baldur’s Gate 3 that added a feature to change your character’s name using something called the Magic Mirror. This same mirror was introduced in a big patch earlier, allowing you to change your character’s appearance to some extent (though you can’t change your race or body type). The option to change your name is a nice addition, especially if you’re in the middle of the game and want to make your character more personal or fit your role-play better.

The new update also lets you use the Magic Mirror to change the appearance of the characters you’ve hired to join your party. It’s pretty cool if you’ve ever wanted to create a group that looks like different versions of U2’s Bono, though I’m not sure why someone would want to do that!
